Brian said: "When I was told I had won the Scottish Landscape - Sea and Coast category I was genuinely surprised. The standard in this competition is usually exceptional and knowing so many talented photographers who enter, it's a real privilege to win a category.

"I had visited the breakwater at the Aberdeen Harbour entrance several times in the weeks leading up to taking this image but each time the waves didn’t quite carry the necessary energy. On the day the shot was taken, it was bitingly cold and windy. I visited with my friend and we got the wave conditions we had been hoping for, along with dark storm clouds and some occasional glimpses of light on the tower."
