Erik said: "The promise of interesting shoreline features and the dramatic backdrop of the black Cuillin draw photographers to this location from far and wide, so admittedly, it can be a challenge to capture an original image. I was keen to include the fishing boats, as for me, this is a key element in the character of Elgol, so I walked to one of the less frequented areas of the shoreline to see what I could find. A bit of luck always helps with landscape photography, so when a final ray of evening sunshine bathed the boats and the foreground rocks in warm light but left cool tones in other parts of the scene, I knew it was a special moment and had to work quickly before it disappeared.
"I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to share this fleeting moment with so many people and am absolutely delighted that it is a category winner in the competition."
