Douglas said: "I was delighted when I received an email confirming I had won first place in the Scottish Landscape - Sea and Coast category. I always look forward to entering SNPA each year. The competition always has a high standard of images from excellent photographers. Over the last five years and having images shortlisted in various categories, it feels good to finally win one of the categories. Finally, I would like to thank the judges for all the hard work on selecting the winning images.
The Isle of Harris has some of the best beaches in the UK. The island can get really busy with photography workshops in February, March and April. I decided to go in my camper van in early January to miss the crowds. The upside of this is that I had the beaches to myself, but the downside is that it was freezing. One night when walking back to the van, I noticed the setting sun was just catching the sandbank at Luskentyre. The light lasted about ten minutes, which was enough time to get the last images of the evening light."
